  • MUSIC VIDEO:

My music video will be fitting into the genre of anthemic music, my chosen video is Paradise by Coldplay, and my target audience is the mainstream Uk tribes aged 14-21. The concept starts with my main artist Dominochrome as a pivotal part of my video. The storyline follows a girl who gets fascinated by the paper airplane that keeps flying and hiding, she then hopes that it will lead her to find her meaning in a confused black world where misery resides.

Some of the main elements that I have inculcated into the music video is the idea of liberation and unity which ties into what my target audience will most relate to. Overall, I believe that the theme of the music video will be very fitting with Coldplay’s previous videos and since their band is also signed with Sony music which emphasizes the core values that both the artists have. The performer I will be using in the music video will be in two apparent worlds; black and white hence the name Dominochrome. Black often has connotations of misery and despair, white almost gives the audience a sense of purity and warmth. The transition between the two worlds will play into my audience’s stereotypes and norms.

The mise-en-scene that I have inculcated into my music video includes the paper airplane, a book, a phone, and a broken mirror. To further emphasize this, I have also used certain locations and filters. One of the main reasons that I have done this is because most Coldplay videos portray the idea of liberation, color, and pretty places therefore intertextuality will also be incorporated into the music video. According to me, the use of the paper airplane is that it not only fits in with my target audience but it also shows multiple representations of beauty, liberation, and anthemic scenarios.

There are some points in the music video that uses fast-paced editing and then back-to-back sequences of slow movements, this is done purely to add a sense of fascination to the video, it also may not seem obvious to the viewers so I have amped up the saturation at the beginning of the video and then highly dark for the later. Choreography is a concept that I would find extremely difficult to film but also to edit therefore I will probably not be incorporating that into my music video. When considering the audience, I think they will resonate more with a narrative than with a performance.

The ultimate message that I want people to receive is that if ever there are dark and painful times, there are always signs in the misery that show you how to get back up and return to the light where liberation and joy reside. The idea came naturally to me as I know that as a society this is something we have all experienced and will eventually come out off.

    WEBSITE

For my website, I am planning to have 2 web pages along with my home page. I am hoping to have a link to social media, merchandise, and my final edited music video. The idea that I initially had was to come up with resources and buttons to give alternative web pages so that it would be kept interactive, however upon starting the website, I came across various different challenges in terms of appearance and accessibility which is why I have kept the buttons and widgets to a bare minimum.

Throughout my website, I am planning to stick with a similar font and color scheme, one of the main reasons for this is so that it matches what my target audience is always expecting but also creates synergy in terms of what is to be considered uniscent. Since Sony Music is an imperative part of the DOMINOCHROMES record deal, I will be adding a link for the viewers to click on so that the audience members can also visit their page. On each of the different website pages, there is the logo, and this is to keep on emphasizing the fascination and curiosity that even the website should imply.

In general, my aim is to keep people watching and viewing the for as long as they possibly can and I will be doing that on my website, because of the visuals and the interactive hyperlinks and symbols used.

  • Here is a link to my finished website:

  •  I have gone through my website now checking all of it and making sure that I had a second-person opinion. I have as well edited the website to look coherent on a computer and phone. I have as well made sure that no matter who’s on the screen it all looks proper and all the media elements are working.

As I started to go back over and check my work I found lots of problems with regard to my grammar and punctuation but also the layout and design of a few elements. Every day was a new mistake that needed fixing but after all checking and changing the highlighted mistakes, the media elements on the screen are now finally working and look cohesive and synergised.

  • Creating my web pages was the most difficult part of the whole process. I have used Wix and created about 3 to 4 templates before committing to one. I changed one of my templates and added extra media elements to it like buttons and links. Another issue that I initially had was that all of the pages on my website dint look cohesive enough and therefore I struggled with synergy. Although this was a hardship I have understood that only two of my webpages were going to be changed so I try to get all my information into one place.

Creating the website was slightly stressful in a sense because I did not know how the website would appear to other people who may have different screen sizes and I would hope that everything fitted in the way it was intended. I had checked on other people’s laptops and it appeared to look the way it was supposed to however I have no control over fixing it for one other person’s laptop if it looks fine on a majority of others.

My main two pages are HOME AND ABOUT. The home page has my music video, the song and album cover, and tour dates. My about page is the story about how DOMINOCHROME came about and the process behind the idea of the name/storyline.

  • I created my website using wix and came to realise that there were not many templates that I was particularly liking but then I thought perhaps the most simplistic one should be the black because the plot line of the whole video is about that. I have altered the website slightly from the my initial drawings however the idea and then theme is pretty much the same.

  • Pro writing aid has come to be a very useful writing assistance as it helps my writing look more cohesive and put together. Proof reading my work has also helped in the writing process as it has highlighted grammatical errors and spelling checks.

Other than the use of Pro writing aid, the use of Grammarly and other platforms that have helped my work look more coherent and cohesive.

  • the list of thing that I need for my website

    • photoshoot of my artist as an intro to the website
    • the font I will be using in the website as a confirmation
    • merchandise that has synergy with the logo etc.
    • tour dates creation
    • the whole album of Coldplay’s, Mylo Xyloto to be downloaded and uploaded.
    • also anything significant that has happened to Coldplay like a new album, song etc.,
  • When I first started using Weebly, I wasn’t comfortable with the software and dint offer me the color pallets and synergy that I wanted, although it was very easy to navigate. However, wix was not only easy to navigate, it also gives the right color pallet, fonts and similar/feel look to my music video to them.
